Grand National Guide - 2019

Grand National Guide

The 2019 Grand National takes place on Saturday 6th of April, and while the final field of runners has yet to be selected, bookmakers have pretty much picked their favourites.

As well as a guide to the favourites for the 2019 Grand National, we've also compiled bookmakers Grand National betting offers (below) that you can use on the race.

Our guide includes the best Grand National odds for the horses that British Bookmakers deem most likely to win the 2019 Grand National.

Grand National: Guide

The Grand National is the most valuable National Hunt Race of the racing calendar with £1 million in prize money and a place in the history books up for grabs.

As race day approaches, we've taken a look at some of the front runners for the big race and included some useful information on each to help you pick which horses to bet on.

When betting on the Grand National it's also a good idea to take into account a horses previous success rates, but also it's age, weight, jockey and who trained the horse.

All of this information is included in our guide to the 2019 Grand National favourites.

Grand National: Favourites

The horses that bookmakers believe are most likely to win the 2019 Grand National:

Total Recall  Total Recall - IRE

Total Recall is currently the favourite to win, and comes into the Grand National on the back of some big wins at Leopardstown and the Ladbrokes Trophy Chase at Newbury in December.

  • Age: 9
  • Weight: 11-04
  • Trainer: Willie Mullins
  • 11/1 at

Blaklion  Blaklion - UK

Blaklion came in 4th place in the 2017 Grand National, and looks great on the fences having won the Becher Chase last December. Nigel Twiston-Davies is looking for his 3rd Grand National win and it looks as if he has a strong chance with Blaklion.

Anibale Fly  Anibale Fly - FR

Anibale Fly has had varying success, with a win in the PaddyPower Chase in December and a 3rd place finish in The Cheltenham Gold Cup, however a fall at the Irish Gold Cup cast a bit of a shadow on his season. He is a strong contender and bookmakers offer Tony Martin’s 8 year old as one of the stronger contenders for the 2019 Grand National.

Tiger Roll  Tiger Roll - IRE

Gordon Elliott has a few runners lined up for the 2019 Grand National; but Tiger Roll seems to be his best bet at taking another race win. The 8 year old looks great, especially having won the Glenfarclas Chase at Cheltenham last month.

Minella Rocco  Minella Rocco - IRE

After taking the runner up spot at the 2017 Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase, Minella Rocco hasn’t had any major success, most recently taking a fall at the Irish Gold Cup in February. This 8-year-old runner trained by Jonjo O’Neill has massive potential and shouldn’t be underestimated.

The Last Samuri  The Last Samuri - IRE

The Last Samuri secured 2nd place in the 2016 Grand National and most recently took 3rd place in The Glenfarclas Chase. Kim Bailey’s runner has given bettors a decent return over the past few years and is always worth considering having a punt on.

Seeyouatmidnight  Seeyouatmidnight - UK

Seeyouatmidnight has a pretty good track record, with a 43.75% win rate in jump races. Although he has only run once since March 2017, he’s in strong form and Sandy Thomson has big hopes for a Grand National win.

Rathvinden  Rathvinden - IRE

Another Willie Mullins runner, Rathvinden had a spectacular win at Cheltenham last month and is now one of the top contenders for the 2019 Grand National. Bet early before odds get worse.

Bellshill  Bellshill - IRE

Bellshill hasn’t ran in many races in the past year and although this Willie Mullins trained 8 year old is in good form, he will need to prove himself in a longer race.

Gold Present  Gold Present - IRE

Nicky Henderson’s Gold Present has won 2 of his last 3 races at Ascot and Newbury. Although he was pulled up at Cheltenham last month, Gold Present still looks good and could prove to be a decent contender for the 2019 Grand National.
