bet365 Betting Shops

There used to be quite a few bet365 betting shops located on the UK high street, but that all changed back in 2005 when they were all sold to rival British Bookmaker Coral.

From that point onwards bet365 became an online-only bookmaker, and what a good decision it was, as they've gone on to become one of the World’s favourite online sports betting brands.

By solely focusing all their efforts on bet365.com, it's not only benefited them, it's also benefited punters too, as it's pushed other bookmakers to raise their game in order to keep pace.

Benefits of betting online:

There are many advantages of betting via bet365's App or website compared to the experience you'd have had betting in one of bet365's shops prior to them being sold.

Firstly, instead of having to waste time locating, and then travelling to your nearest bet365 betting shop, you're now able to place that bet online within minutes - via the phone in your pocket, the laptop in your bag, or using your PC at home!

Secondly, the speed and ease in which you can now get odds for thousands of different markets is incredible, and something that someone betting in one of bet365's locations back in the 1990's couldn't have imagined being possible.

  • World’s favourite online betting brand
  • Get instant odds on loads of markets
  • Place bets on the sports you watch live

It's unfortunate that your nearest bet365 shop no longer exists. But on the plus side, there's a much more convenient way of placing a bet with them these days, and that's online.

Registering a new account is a quick and easy process and also gives you the chance to claim £50 in free bets* - a signup offer that wasn't available when bet365 betting shops existed.

Make sure you check out how the latest bet365 signup offer compares to the deals that other British Bookmakers offer new customers registering online betting accounts.

Peter Coates started what would go on to become bet365 in 1974 under the name Provincial Racing, initially running 3 betting shops located in and around Stoke-on-Trent in England.

The bet365 brand that we all know today was founded in 2000, with bet365.com launching in March of 2001, thanks to Peter's daughter Denise Coates. She purchased the highly memorable domain name after foreseeing how lucrative betting online could be.

Denise had experience of the family bookmaking business having worked as an accountant for Provincial Racing, before going on to become managing director of their chain of betting shops.

By 2005 bet365 had expanded its shops to 59 across the UK, but took the decision to sell them to be able to focus all their attention online, and the website they'd launched in 2001.

The rest is history, with bet365 now surpassing the revenue of British Bookmakers like Coral, Ladbrokes and William Hill who all still run high street betting shops all over England.

The first licensed bet365 betting shops opened their doors in Staffordshire back in 1974 under the name Provincial Racing. They went on to become a reasonably sized chain of UK bookmakers, with around 59 land-based locations as of 2005.

The decision was then made to sell all bet365's shops and put all their efforts into developing their brand online, meaning bet365 no longer took bets from their customers face-to-face.

Since then, bet365's reputation for offering those customers a comprehensive and user-friendly online betting experience has been second to none. In fact, the company founded by Peter Coates in 1974 is now regarded as one of the World's biggest online betting brands.
