BoyleSports Shops
The history of BoyleSports betting shops started with a single dream back in 1982 when John Boyle opened his very first premises in Markethill in Northern Ireland.
From that humble beginning, the network of BoyleSports shops began to take shape.
By 1989, five new locations had sprung up in Drogheda, and by 2002, 14 more betting shops opened their doors, showing a clear path of ambitious growth.
The expansion had truly picked up pace byy August 2004, with 77 operational betting shops, and a mere two years later, in 2006, BoyleSports celebrated opening their 100th store!
The company continued their growth by snapping up other bookmakers betting shops.
They took over 17 shops from Celtic Bookmakers in February 2011, and later that year, aquired 15 shops from William Hill, considerably growing the family of BoyleSports betting shops.
This growth didn't stop there. September 2018 marked another significant moment with the grand opening of their 250th BoyleSports betting shop in Kilcullen, County Kildare.
This period wasn't just about numbers; it was about BoyleSports laying the groundwork for even bigger plans in both their physical betting shops and online presence.
A big jump occured in June 2019, when BoyleSports made its entry into the UK market by acquiring bookmaker Wilf Gilbert, which added 13 more betting shops to their portfolio.
Then, in January 2020, they really took things to the next level by expanding their Northern Ireland operations with the acquisition of 33 more shops from William Hill.
This momentum continued in 2021 with the acquisition of bookmakers Tully. This deal brought 10 more betting shops under BoyleSports control, as well as Tully's telephone betting business.
This crucial acquisition helped BoyleSports maintain its position as Ireland's largest independent betting operator, running a total of 268 BoyleSports betting shops across the country.
At the time of writing, BoyleSports continue to grow their presence across the UK, with their sponsorship of West Ham in the Premier League further enhancing the brands awareness.
The company has also recenently announced plans to invest over £100m over the next three years, with a clear focus on expanding its network of BoyleSports betting shops.
It also plans to open more than 200 new retail BoyleSports betting shops across the UK.
These additionns would mean that they'd triple their current count of 50 shops in the UK, and comes close to equalling its presence in Ireland, where they have around 390 shops.
