Liverpool v Man Utd: Betting Preview

Man Utd make the short journey to Anfield this Saturday, when they take on arch rivals Liverpool in the latest North West Derby.

This game represents one of the biggest rivalries in the Premier League, and looking at bookmakers best odds, Saturday’s game is expected to be extremely close.

Jürgen Klopp’s men have had a tough start to the season, but Liverpool are predicted to have the edge, with some bookmakers offering them as favourites to win.

Although slight favourites, the last 2 Premier League games between Liverpool and Man Utd have ended in draws, with Man Utd winning the previous 4.

Liverpool may have beaten Mourinho’s men in the 2016 Europa League, but they haven’t won at home against Man Utd in the Premier League since 2013.

Odds are pretty short, and while Liverpool may have the home advantage, Man Utd have consistently been playing to a much higher standard this season.

You can watch Liverpool v Man Utd live on SkySports at 12:30pm on Saturday.

It’s fair to say that Liverpool haven’t had a perfect start to their Premier League campaign, and come into the North West Derby sitting in 7th place on 12 points.

Jürgen Klopp’s men have only managed to secure 3 wins from their first 7 games, barely holding Newcastle to a 1-1 draw in their last outing, but haven’t lost any of their home games.

Liverpool will be desperate for victory over Man Utd, and a win at Anfield would send a strong message to the rest of the Premier League, while putting a stop to Man Utd’s winning run.

Luckily Klopp doesn’t have too many injury worries to contend with, with just Lallana, Clyne, Lovren and Bogdan ruled out for the match.

It’s not going to be a walk in the park for Liverpool, but if they can return to form, they could realistically beat Man Utd on the day and secure all 3 points.

Man Utd's Best Odds: 7/4

If you’re betting on Man Utd coming away from Anfield with all three points, Betfred.com offers the best odds at 7/4 plus a 'bet £10, get £30 in bonus bets' offer for new customers.

Man Utd are on a great run having won 6 out of their 7 games so far this season and currently sit in 2nd place on 19 points, having beaten Crystal Palace 4-0 in their last outing.

Mourinho’s men are equal on points to league leaders Man City, who are top due to a better goal difference, but a win on Saturday could see them take the top spot.

Unfortunately Mourinho has plenty of injuries to deal with, as Pogba, Ibrahimovic, Rojo, Fellaini and Jones have all been ruled out, while Carrick and Lukaku are also in doubt.

While Man Utd are playing extremely well, they’ll be missing a number of key players, and it could be a tougher game than Mourinho would like at this stage in the competition!

The last time Man Utd beat Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League was back in January 2016, and Mourinho will be looking for a repeat performance.

Given that Man Utd haven’t lost a game so far this season and are in fantastic form, they could come away from Saturday’s North West Derby with a win.

Best Odds On A Draw: 23/10

If you're betting on neither team doing enough to win, Betfair.com offers best odds at 23/10.

The last 2 Premier League games between Liverpool and Man Utd have both ended in draws.

It's unlikely that Saturday's match will end in a draw as both teams really need the points for different reasons, but if they play on the safe side, a draw could be a realistic outcome.
