FA Cup Final: Preview

The FA Cup Final is always one of the biggest events in the English football calendar, however there’s a lot more riding on the outcome of this year’s game.

Chelsea will be taking on Man Utd, and given that neither team has managed to win any silverware so far this season, a win would go a long way to appeasing their fans.

As with most cup finals, Chelsea v Man Utd will probably be a close game, but bookmakers offer Man Utd as slight favourites to beat Chelsea on Saturday evening.

The last time Chelsea and Man Utd met in an FA Cup Final, was back in 2007 when Chelsea won, in-fact Chelsea have won 3 of their last 4 FA Cup clashes with Jose's men.

There’s also the opportunity for the winner to secure another piece of silverware that can’t be forgotten - plus the winners will face Man City in the FA Community Shield.

Maybe that's an extra incentive for Man Utd to emerge victorious, who knows, but you can watch the FA Cup Final unfold live on either BT Sport or BBC at 17:15pm on 19/05/2018.

In the lead up to what’s set to be cracking FA Cup Final, we've taken a look both team’s form and which bookmakers offer best odds on the outcome of the game:

Chelsea have won the FA Cup 7 times, and come into this season’s final looking to secure their 8th victory and make amends or failing to qualify for the Champions League.

It’s their 2nd successive FA Cup final, and although they lost to Arsenal last season, Conte will be determined to beat rivals Man Utd and win their first FA Cup final since 2011-2012.

Last seasons Premier League winners had a pretty strong qualifying journey to reach the 2018 FA Cup Final, easily beating Southampton 2-0 in the semi-finals.

Fortunately Conte doesn’t have too many injury worries, with only Drinkwater and Luiz set to miss the game, and after a recent victory over Liverpool, Chelsea will be full of confidence.

Man Utd's Best Odds: 19/10

If you’re betting on Man Utd coming away from Wembley with the trophy, WilliamHill.com offer the best odds at 19/10 as well as £30 in bonus bets for new account holders.

Man Utd last won the FA Cup in 2015-2016, and will be looking to secure their 13th trophy when they take on Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening.

José Mourinho’s men finished 2nd in the Premier League and also beat Spurs 2-1 in the semi-finals, should have a slight edge over Chelsea who finished 5th.

Luckily, Mourinho doesn’t have any major injury concerns, although Sanchez may be doubtful, the defensive pairing of Jones and Smalling should be back for the match.

Lukaku has also been struggling with an ankle injury that he got playing against Arsenal last month but is hoping that he'll have recovered enough to able to make it onto the subs bench.

A win for Man Utd is crucial not only for their trophy cabinet, but also for Mourinho and ensuring that his reputation for winning silverware most seasons is left intact.

Best Odds On A Draw: 21/10

If you're betting on neither team doing enough to win, a few bookmakers offer the best odds at 21/10 including BetVictor.com - check out BetVictor's signup offer if you aren't a member.

Only 1 of the last 4 FA Cup games between Chelsea and Man Utd have ended in draws, and even their last Premier League draw was way back in February 2016.

FA Cup Finals are usually pretty tight, with neither side wanting to lose and so we're predicting that the match will be a very close game - especially with £1.8m going to the winners!

In saying that, the FA Cup Final is the last chance for either team to win a trophy and with both managers experts in collecting silverware, who knows what will happen on the day.
