England v Slovenia: Betting Preview

Gareth Southgate’s England team return to Wembley this Thursday night, when they host Slovenia in the latest round of WC 2018 qualifiers.

Having beaten Slovakia 2-1 in their last outing, England will be determined to bag a home victory, and guarantee qualification as leaders of Group F.

It’s easy to see why bookmakers offer England as favourites, but they're still offering some pretty decent price boosts on an England win to new signups.

The last time these 2 teams met was last year in Ljubljana, when the game ended in a goalless draw, and Southgate’s men will be determined not to repeat this result on home soil.

England look good coming into the game, and as the only team in Group F that haven’t lost any of their 2018 qualifiers so far, it’s expected that they will walk away with a victory.

While Slovenia have only lost 2 of their qualifying games, and currently sit 6 points behind, it will be tough for them to beat an on form England and earn a much needed 3 points.

You can watch England v Slovenia live on ITV at 19:45 on Thursday 5th October.

Having beaten Slovakia and Malta in their October qualifying games, Gareth Southgate’s men are currently sitting on 20 points at the top of Group F, 5 points clear of 2nd place Slovakia.

Throughout the qualifiers England have looked comfortable, and a win at Wembley would be a fantastic way for England to complete qualification for WC 2018.

There are only a few injury worries, with Adam Lallana and Ross Barkley missing, and Spurs midfielder Dele Alli ruled out after receiving a one-match ban against Slovakia.

Slovenia have proved to be tough opponents throughout their campaign.

While this game won’t be a walk in the park for England, if they can continue their recent fine form, they should secure a victory and qualification for next years tournament!

Slovenia's Best Odds: 11/1

If you’re betting on Slovenia coming away from Wembley with all the points, Ladbrokes.com offers the best odds at 11/1.

Slovenia have played well throughout the competition, only conceding 4 goals so far, however Srečko Katanec’s men really need a win at Wembley to boost their qualification chances.

Having missed out on qualification for WC 2014, Slovenia are looking more convincing this time round and will still be in with a chance if they can beat England.

Although England have never lost to Slovenia, there's a lot riding on the game, and Katanec’s men will be determined to secure 3 points to keep their qualification dreams alive.

Best Odds On A Draw: 17/4

If you're betting on neither team doing enough to win, BetVictor.com offers best odds on a draw at 17/4 as well as a 'bet £10, get £40 in bonus credit' deal for new customers.

The last game these teams played may have ended in a draw, but that was the only time a team has failed to find victory when England have played Slovenia.

It would be a big surprise if this game ended in a draw, however you never know what could happen on the day, and there are some good odds to be had for those betting on a stalemate.
