Spurs v Chelsea: Preview

Spurs host London rivals Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday evening, and with so much to play for; this is set to be one hotly contested London Derby!

Only 1 point separates the two sides coming into this match, however, bookmakers offer Chelsea as the slight favourites to maintain their unbeaten run and take 3 points off Spurs.

Both Spurs and Chelsea would really benefit from a win, and if either side loses 3 points, it could make it even more difficult to catch up with current Premier League leaders Man City.

It’s always tough to call who will be victorious when these sides meet, and with both sides enjoying a good run of form, Saturday’s match at Wembley will be no different.

Spurs v Chelsea betting odds are pretty tight, and although bookmakers offer Chelsea as the favourites, there’s hardly any difference in the odds you’ll get on either side to win.

Thees London rivals have met each other 52 times in the Premier League, with Chelsea winning 27 fixtures, while Spurs have won 6 matches, and there have been 19 draws.

It's been much closer in recent times, with Spurs winning 2 of the last 3 Premier League fixtures including a 3-1 victory in April, while Chelsea beat them in the FA Cup last season.

In the lead up to Spurs v Chelsea, we've found which bookmakers offer the best betting odds, looked into both teams form as well as the player injuries that managers have to deal with.

Spurs have had a solid start to their Premier League campaign, and come into the London Derby sitting in 4th place on 27 points, just 1 point below Chelsea and 5 points below Man City.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have won 9 out of their 12 matches to date, but they’ve dropped 9 points from 3 losses, and could do without losing any more points against Chelsea on Saturday.

Bookmakers offer Chelsea as favourites for this match; however, Spurs will be a tough side to overcome, especially after they secured a 3-1 away win against Sarri’s side back in April.

Spurs come into this match on the back of strong victories over Crystal Palace and Wolves, and if they can beat Chelsea, they'd close the gap on Man City and 2nd place Liverpool ahead of their next fixture where they face 5th place Arsenal.

The biggest issue for Spurs is the number of players that are set to miss this London Derby.

Pochettino is probably going to be without Trippier, Sanchez, Dembele, Rose, Vertonghen, who are all likely to be ruled out of the Spurs v Chelsea match due to various injuries.

Chelsea have had a great unbeaten run so far in their 2018-19 Premier League campaign, with 8 wins and 4 draws under their belt propelling them to 3rd in the table on 28 points.

Sarri’s side have a better winning record against Spurs, and they'll be looking to take advantage of the fact that some of Spurs' key players may miss Saturday’s match.

Chelsea currently sit in 3rd place, just 1 point ahead of Spurs, and a win would give them a much needed boost up the table, before they play a couple of easier fixtures against Fulham and Wolves ahead of playing Man City in early December.

Unlike Spurs, Maurizio Sarri doesn’t have too many injury concerns, with only Ampadu and van Ginkel ruled out, while Kovacic is expected to be back in the line-up.

Without a doubt, this is set to be one of the closest matches that we’ll have seen in quite a while.

Both teams have a lot riding on this match, and both would really benefit from taking all 3 points to keep their Premier League campaign on track and prevent Man City from extending the gap.

It’s hard to say who to bet on, but it’s definitely worth claiming some of the betting offers or price boosts odds that bookmakers are offering in conjunction to their Spurs v Man City betting odds.
