Real Madrid v Liverpool: Preview

Real Madrid take on Liverpool in the 2018 Champions League Final on Saturday where both teams will be looking to cap their league campaigns with a trophy.

While it’s set to be an extremely close game, bookmakers offer Real Madrid as the slight favourites to win the coveted trophy for the 13th time in their history.

Real Madrid and Liverpool have only met on 5 occasions in European competition, with Real Madrid winning twice and Liverpool securing 3 victories.

In saying that, these teams haven’t actually played each other competitively in nearly 4 years and a lot has changed for both clubs since 2014.

Both Real Madrid and Liverpool have had impressive Champions League campaigns, and with both teams looking good coming into Saturday’s clash in Kiev, this is set to be one of the most exciting finals we’ve seen in quite a while.

You can watch Real Madrid v Liverpool live on BT Sport at 7:45pm on 26/05/2018.

In the lead up to what’s set to be a cracking final, let’s take a look both team’s form and which bookmakers offer best odds on the outcome of Real Madrid v Liverpool:

Real Madrid Odds: 6/5

If you’re betting that Real Madrid will beat Liverpool, a few bookmakers offer the best odds at 6/5 including Bet365.com who also offer a decent signup offer to new customers.

Real Madrid have won 3 of the last 4 Champions League titles, and are the most successful team in the competition, with 12 titles and 3 runner up spots under their belt.

Unfortunately, that success hasn’t been repeated this season, and a win against Liverpool will be Zidane’s only hope of securing some silverware, as they lost their way in all other competitions.

Real Madrid only managed to secure a 3rd place spot in La Liga, and have continually dealt with average performances from some of their key players.

There’s no doubt that they are still one of the strongest teams in Europe, but Liverpool will be a tough team to beat. Cristiano Ronaldo is expected back in the line up after his injury in the Barcelona game, and he will really need to be on form if Real Madrid are to win.

Bookmakers offer Real Madrid as slight favourites to win, but they've only won 1 of their last 5 games, even throwing away a two-goal lead against Villarreal in their last match of the season!

Liverpool Odds: 23/10

If you’re betting on Liverpool coming away from Kiev with the Champions League trophy, WilliamHill.com offer best odds at 23/10 plus £30 in bonus bets for new account holders.

Liverpool head into their 8th Champions League final as slight underdogs, in what will be their first appearance at this stage of the competition in 11 years.

Although they haven’t won any trophies this season, and only just secured 4th place in the Premier League, Liverpool look stronger and more confident than we have seen in quite a while.

Jurgen Klopp has made a huge difference to the team since he became manager, and no doubt he'll be hoping to secure their 6th Champions League title against Real Madrid.

Mohamed Salah has also been pivotal in Liverpool making it to the final, and if he can retain the confidence we’ve seen of late, there is no reason why Liverpool can’t beat Real Madrid.

They've also the advantage of experience, as Klopp has faced Real Madrid on 6 occasions with Borussia Dortmund, where he secured 3 victories, where as Zidane has never faced Liverpool.

It certainly won’t be an easy game for Liverpool, but they are more than capable of surprising a few people in the final and taking the Champions League trophy back to Anfield.

Odds On A Draw: 29/10

If you're betting on Real Madrid v Liverpool ending in a draw, a couple of bookmakers offer the best odds at 29/10 including one of our favourites, Bet365.com.

Historically none of the matches involving Real Madrid and Liverpool have ended in a draw.

A draw result may be a bit of a long-shot, but finals are usually close affairs, and although bookmakers offer the best odds on Real Madrid to win, a draw can't be ruled out.
