Liverpool v Arsenal: Betting Preview

Arsenal head North to Anfield for probably the best match of this weekends Premier League action, where they face Liverpool in Saturday’s highly anticipated match.

Both teams come into this clash with a 100% record so far this season (the only 2 teams to have won all their games), but it's Liverpool who are the favourites to win the match.

It’s no surprise that online bookmakers see the home side winning given Liverpool’s recent performances, and especially since they haven’t lost to Arsenal since April 2015.

All 3 players that shared the Golden Boot last season will also be in the line up, with Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all scoring 22 goals.

Liverpool also have a much better track record when playing Arsenal, winning 4 of the last 8 Premier League encounters, while the other 4 have ended in draws.

Although Arsenal took points from Liverpool in their opening match last season, The Reds went on to thrash The Gunners with a 5-1 scoreline in their last meeting back in December.

Jurgen Klopp will be hoping for a similar result on Saturday, while Unai Emery will hoping that Arsenal can record the first victory of the Northern rivals in 4 years.

It will be a massive challenge for Arsenal to beat a side that finished 27 ahead points ahead of them last season, so they'll be looking to come away from Anfield with at least 1 point.

In the lead up to Liverpool v Arsenal, we've taken a look at both team’s recent performances, and any player injuries that could affect either managers match preparations.

Liverpool: Team News

Liverpool have had a fantastic start to their 2019/20 Premier League season, and currently sit at the top of the table with 6 points, just ahead of Arsenal on goal difference.

An 4-1 win over Norwich at home secured all 3 points on the opening day of the season, and Klopp’s men then went on to record a 2-1 away victory over Southampton in their last outing.

It’s no surprise that Liverpool are expected to beat Arsenal on Saturday, and Klopp’s side have been playing phenomenal football for quite some time now.

Salah and Mane usually set a pace that Arsenal consistently struggle to keep up with, while Firmino has been a huge challenge for Arsenal in his last four Premier League matches.

If Liverpool can continue to play as well as they have been, they should walk away with all 3 points and be the only Premier League team with a 100% winning record.

Luckily Klopp doesn’t have any major injury worries to deal with, as only Keita, Clyne and Becker doubtful of making the side that will face Arsenal on Saturday evening.

With pretty much a full squad to choose from, it will be interesting to see how many goals Liverpool can actually score on the day against an Arsenal side light in defence.

Liverpool: Form

Looking at the last 5 fixtures that Liverpool have played in all competitions, they've won 3 and drawn 2 scoring a total of 12 goals (2.4 goals per game) and conceding 6 times.

Arsenal: Team News

Just like Liverpool, Arsenal have also had a strong start to their Premier League campaign, but that winning run could easily end on Saturday evening at Anfield.

The Gunners kicked off their season with a 1-0 victory against Newcastle, and then went on to take a 2-1 win over Burnley at the Emirates Stadium last weekend.

This will be an entirely different type of match, and beating the current European Champions at home, something Arsenal haven’t achieved since 2012, is an almighty ask!

There’s no doubt that Emery will be dreading a fixture against such as strong team this early in the season, especially since Arsenal haven’t dropped any points yet.

The Gunners will be aiming for a top 4 finish this season, and even avoiding a loos, and getting a draw against Liverpool away at Anfield would be a huge result.

Arsenal have some fantastic players in their squad, and if they can improve their defence, and create scoring opportunities, they may just give Liverpool a run for their money.

Luckily Arsenal don’t have any major injury worries ahead of the Liverpool match.

Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka are due back in the line up, however Emery will still be without Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding and new signing from Celtic; Kieran Tierney.

Arsenal: Form

Arsenal's record over their last 5 matches in all competitions is won 2, drawn 1 and lost 2. They've scored less goals than Liverpool, 6 in total (1.2 per game) but conceded the same (6).

Liverpool v Arsenal: Stats

Liverpool and Arsenal have played each other 226 times over the years with the Northerners currently having the upper hand with 87 victories, compared to 78 for the Southerners.

There have been 54 matches between these sides in the Premier League era, with Liverpool once again commanding the better record with 20 wins compared to 15 wins for The Gunners.

Of the 20 wins for Liverpool, 13 of them were played at Anfield, and 7 away. The 15 victories that Arsenal recorded were split into 9 wins played at home, and 6 away wins.

The last 5 Premier League matches involving these teams resulted in 3 wins for Liverpool, 0 wins for Arsenal as the other 2 encounters ended in 1-1 and 3-3 draws.

The last Premier League fixture between these two sides occurred on the 29th of December in 2018 when Liverpool absolutely hammered Arsenal 5-1 at Anfield.

A hat-trick for Roberto Firmino and further goals from Sadio Mané and a penalty by Mohamed Salah did the damage with Ainsley Maitland-Niles scoring Arsenal's consolation.

This was the joint biggest win that Liverpool have ever had over Arsenal in a Premier League fixture with the other 5-1 win coming on the 8th of February 2014; also at Anfield.

The highest score that Arsenal have ever beaten Liverpool by in the Premier League era was the 4-2 win on the 4th of April in 2015 when they met at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsène Wenger oversaw the win with Héctor Bellerin, Mesut Özil, Alexis Sánchez and Olivier Giroud scoring for Arsenal with Jordan Henderson getting Liverpool's single goal.

Liverpool v Arsenal - 27/08/2017

Our Premier League match to bet on this week is a cracker and kicks off at 4pm on Sunday when 6th placed Liverpool take on 11th placed Arsenal at Anfield.

As well as the Liverpool v Arsenal betting preview, we've also compiled a list of bookmakers latest betting offers including some amazing price boosts.

Liverpool host Arsenal at Anfield this Sunday, and bookmakers offer The Reds as the favourites to take all 3 points and win the weekends biggest Premier League match.

Klopp’s squad may be the favourites in the lead up to kick off, but either team could secure a victory on the day, given Arsenal's inconsistency and Liverpool's defence.

Liverpool do look like the stronger team, have won 2 of the last games against Arsenal, and are also one of the favourites to win the 2017/18 Premier League title.

Arsenal have been struggling, with Wenger under a lot of pressure to win Sunday’s game so it's anybody's guess what form the team will be in on the day.

Liverpool v Arsenal is live on Sky Sports at 16:00 on Sunday 27th August.

Liverpool

If you’re betting that Liverpool will grab a home win and beat Arsenal on Sunday, William Hill offers the best odds at 23/20 plus a 'bet £10, get £30 in bonus bets' deal for new signups.

Liverpool come into their 3rd game of the new Premier League season in 6th place on 4 points.

The Reds only managed to hold Watford to a draw in their first outing, but beat Crystal Palace 1-0 at Anfield last weekend and beat Hoffenheim 4-2 on Wednesday night.

Unfortunately Jürgen Klopp has a few players missing for the visit of Arsenal, with Adam Lallana, Philippe Coutinho, Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Bogdan all set to miss the match.

This shouldn’t pose too much of a problem, and with new signings Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson in good form, bookmakers are predicting a Liverpool victory.

Liverpool may not have won any Premier League silverware since 1990, but if Klopp can hold on to Philippe Coutinho, they could be strong contenders for a trophy.

Arsenal

If you’re betting on Arsenal coming away from Anfield with all three points, Betfair offer the best odds at 5/2 as well as £30 in bonus bets for new signups betting just £10.

To claim the Betfair signup offer, simply register a new account today and bet £10 on Liverpool v Arsenal and they'll credit your account with £30 in bonus bets!

Arsenal missed out on a top 4 finish last season and haven’t had the best of starts to the new campaign with a narror home victory over Leicester and losing away to Stoke.

It's this inconsistency that was to blame for them finishing below Spurs at the end of a Premier League season for the first time in 22 years last time around.

Luckily Arsenal don’t have any serious injury worries, with Wenger hoping that Alexis Sanchez will make his first appearance of the season at Anfield - that's if he’s still at The Emirates!

At this stage it’s pretty accurate to say that Arsenal haven’t hit the ground running with bookmakers predicting they'll struggle to beat Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

They seem to be lacking in confidence, and really need to up their game if they want to be in with a chance of getting their season back on track and moving up the table.

Liverpool v Arsenal - 05/03/2016

Liverpool take on Arsenal this Wednesday at Anfield, and while The Reds will be hoping to secure all 3 points, online bookmakers offer Arsenal as favourites to win the match.

Liverpool v Arsenal will also be a popular game to bet on, especially with online bookmakers offering some decent price boosts and betting offers on the match.

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool may have the home advantage, however they’ve only won 1 of their last 8 Premier League home matches against Arsene's Gunners.

The last time they met the game ended 0-0, and although Liverpool have suffered only one home defeat under Klopp, they’ll have their work cut out to beat Arsenal.

Liverpool v Arsenal is also set to be shown live on BT Sports 1 at 20:00 and will be a great opportunity to use bookmakers signup offers or pre-match betting offers.

Liverpool

If you’re betting on Liverpool to win the match, Betfred offers best odds at 2/1.

Liverpool come into the game in 8th place with 30 points, 12 points behind Arsenal.

While Liverpool may have the home advantage, it will be a tough game given it’s their 4th in 11 days and have a growing injury list, which includes key player Philippe Coutinho.

Overall Liverpool have a decent home record, having only lost 1 of their last 7 matches.

Their record against Arsenal however isn’t as impressive as they’ve won just 1 of their last 8 Premier League home matches against the Gunners.

While Liverpool’s form may be improving under their new manager, they’ve only scored 2 goals in their last 4 games and will need to score more goals if they want to move up the table.

Liverpool were also easily beaten by Bilic's West Ham in their last Premier League outing and only drew against lowly Exeter last weekend in their FA Cup game.

Arsenal

If you agree with the bookmakers and think Arsenal will win, Ladbrokes offers best odds at 8/5.

Arsenal will be looking to hold onto the top spot and come away with the full 3 points.

While they’ve been performing well, their form on the road is still looking a little shaky and they’ve only won 1 of their last 4 Premier League away games.

Their last away game saw them suffer a shocking 4-0 loss to Southampton and they’ll be hoping they can improve on that performance and beat Liverpool.

Ignoring their recent away form, Arsenal look strong having won 5 of their last 6 Premier League matches and beat Sunderland 3-1 in the FA Cup game last weekend.

It’s easy to see why online bookmakers expect Arsenal to beat Liverpool and with a decent recent record at Anfield they could very easily walk away with all 3 points.
