Portugal vs Wales Preview

What an unexpected Semi-Final with tournament underdogs Wales taking on a Portuguese team who are yet to win a game within 90 minutes during the tournament.

These teams haven’t met since they played a friendly back in 2000 when Portugal won 3-0, and this will be their first ever game in a tournament environment.

Although Portugal are the bookmakers favourites to win, Chris Coleman’s Wales have had a fantastic tournament so far and have a chance of making it through to the final.

Portugal may have more experience and be the stronger team, but they’ve looked unconvincing throughout the tournament and could easily lose to Wales.

Portugal's Best Odds: 6/5

If you’re betting on the bookmakers current favourite Portugal, head over to BetVictor.com as they offer the best odds on a them beating Wales win at 6/5.

This is Portugal’s 4th Semi-Final in 6 tournament appearances, and yet they still haven’t managed to claim that elusive European Championship title.

They just may miss out again this year, as Fernando Santos’ men haven’t had a convincing run only making it to the Semis after a penalty shoot out against Poland.

It’s hard to believe that Portugal have made it this far having drawn all five of their EURO 2016 matches and only progressed after extra-time or a penalty shoot-out.

The team have looked less impressive as the tournament has gone on, and if they don’t step up their game on Wednesday they could face a humiliating defeat to Wales.

Santos also has a few injury worries with Raphael Guerreiro and Andre Gomes missing, while William Cavarlho has been ruled out after a booking against Poland.

Wales' Best Odds: 16/5

If you think Chris Coleman will win this EURO 2016 Semi-Final, head to Betfair.com as they offer the best odds on Wales at 16/5.

Wales are having a great tournament having made it to their first ever Semi-Final at a European Championships thanks to a 3-1 win over Belgium.

Wales have a decent chance of reaching the EURO 2016 final, but they’re still the underdogs, and will face a tough game against bookmakers favourites Portugal.

The big issue that Coleman has to deal with is the number of players missing, with Davies and Ramsey ruled out after picking up their second yellow cards vs Belgium.

Then there’s also the added pressure for Gareth Bale coming up against his Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo in the battle of the Galacticos!

This will be one hell of a game and if Wales can keep it together against a struggling Portuguese side, they could make it to their first ever final.

Best Odds On A Draw: 2/1

Given Portugal’s performances so far and their inability to win games in 90 minutes, a draw could be a strong possibility when they play Wales on Wednesday.

If you're betting on the first Semi-Final match of EURO 2016 ending in a draw after 90 minutes, WilliamHill.com offer the best odds on a stalemate at 2/1.
