Champion Chase Betting Guide

Day 2 promises one of the most thrilling races of the 2020 Cheltenham Festival, with the Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase set to be the highlight of the day’s races.

Nicky Henderson is back with ‘Altior’, who is seeking a 2nd win in a row, and with Willie Mullins bringing a raft of strong contenders to the starting line, this is set to be one of the most exhilarating races of the 4 days of Cheltenham Festival.

When comparing bookmakers Champion Chase odds, ‘Altior’, the Irish 9 year old who is unbeaten in 17 runs, is the favourite to win the cream of the £400,000 prize fund.

In fact, ‘Altior’ has already had great success at the Cheltenham Festival, winning the Supreme Novice Hurdle, the Arkle Chase and the Queen Mother Champion Chase in 3 consecutive seasons, and big things are expected from him in this outing.

Of course, that means that the odds bookmakers offer are expected to be pretty short, so make sure you take advantage of some of the Cheltenham betting offers that are up for grabs.

As we’ve come to expect, Willie Mullins brings a number of his top contenders to challenge for the Champion Chase title at this years Cheltenham Festival.

Min’ the 8 year old Bay Gelding who came 2nd in last years race, is the main contender, and comes into this race having won his last 2 outings at Leopardstown and Punchestown.

Min’ also looks to be in great form, and a win against ‘Altior’ would be the ultimate prize!

Willie Mullins ‘Footpad’, a 7 year old Bay Gelding who won 5 straight races last season before having an upset in the last 2 outings, and also billed as a top contender.

He looks strong but has a lot to prove after upsets in his last 2 outings. ‘Un De Sceaux’ has won 17 of his 24 races to date, and there are high expectations that the 11 year old Bay Gelding trained by Willie Mullins still has it in him to make an impact in this key race.

Alan King’s ‘Sceau Royal’ is the top English challenger, and bookmakers believe that he's in great form when you look at the Champion Chase odds they offer on him.

The 7 year old Bay Gelding has a good track record, and even though he missed the end of last season, he has had a good start to this season, and should challenge bookmakers favourites.

The last runners that online bookmakers offer as the main contenders for the Champion Chase are ‘Petit Mouchoir’ an 8 year old French Gelding trained by Henry De Bromhead, and ‘Fox Norton’, Harry Whittington’s impressive 9 year old Bay Gelding.
